Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What exactly is freeze-drying

Freeze-drying (or lyophilization) is an advanced food preservation technique. We first cook our home-style sabjis to perfection. The food is then frozen, and a gentle vacuum is applied, which causes the frozen water to turn directly from ice into vapor. This process removes the water without using high heat, locking in the original flavor, texture, and over 95% of the nutrients..

How is Pocket Pantry different from other 'ready-to-eat' meals

The difference is in our promise of authenticity and quality.
Authentic Taste: Our recipes are designed to taste like "mummy ke hath ka khana" (the taste of mom's cooking), not a generic, mass-produced curry.
Premium Ingredients: We proudly use Sunflower Oil (never Palm Oil) and do not use any preservatives, artificial flavors, or colors.
Our Process: The freeze-drying process preserves the integrity of the food in a way that traditional retorting (the high-heat process used for most 'wet' pouches) cannot.
Personal Care: Every single batch is personally quality-tested by our founders to ensure the taste and consistency meet our high standards.

How do I prepare Pocket Pantry meals?

It is incredibly simple and designed for your convenience:
Empty: Cut open the packet and empty the contents into a bowl.
Rehydrate: Add the amount of boiling hot water specified on the pack (this is crucial for the perfect consistency).
Rest: Stir well, cover the bowl, and let it rest for 5-7 minutes.
Enjoy: Stir one last time, and your hot, authentic sabji is ready to eat!

How much food does one packet make?

Our 80g freeze-dried packet rehydrates into a 250-300Gram serving of item. This is a generous and satisfying portion for two person when paired with roti, naan, or rice.

Are freeze-dried meals healthy?

Absolutely. Because freeze-drying avoids the high-heat cooking used in other preservation methods, it is exceptionally good at retaining the original vitamins, minerals, and protein of the fresh ingredients. We believe it is the best way to create a 'ready-to-eat' meal that is as nutritious as it is delicious.

Do you use any preservatives, artificial flavors, or palm oil?

No. We are 100% free of all three.
No Preservatives: The long shelf life is a natural result of the freeze-drying process removing the water.
No Artificial Flavors/Colors: The rich taste and color come from the authentic spices and fresh ingredients.
No Palm Oil: We are committed to using only premium, healthier Sunflower Oil in our preparations.

Do you offer Jain-friendly (No Onion, No Garlic) options?

Yes, we do! We understand and respect diverse dietary needs. We offer specific Jain-friendly variants for several of our popular sabjis. You can find these by looking for the "Jain-Friendly" label on the product or by using the "Jain" filter on our shop page.

How should I store the packets?

Please store your Pocket Pantry packets in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. There is no need for refrigeration. Once a packet is opened, the contents should be rehydrated and consumed within 1 day or two.

I have allergies. What should I know?

Please be aware that your safety is paramount to us.
Our products are prepared in a facility that handles dairy and nuts.
We urge you to read the ingredient list and allergen declaration on each pack before consumption.

How do you ensure food safety and hygiene?

Your trust is our top priority. We operate with the highest standards.
Our manufacturing facilities are fully compliant with FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) standards.
This ensures strict hygiene and quality control at every single step of the process, from ingredient sourcing to final packaging.
